Industrial composting facilities

Biorich offers a comprehensive organic waste solution for commercial businesses—food processors, restaurants, abattoirs, farms, and industrial partners. We accept high-volume materials like food scraps, shellfish, paunch grass, compostable packaging, and more. Our aim? Turn bulky waste into nutrient-rich compost, keeping it out of landfill and aligned with circular economy goals.

By diverting organics from landfills, we help businesses reduce methane emissions, meet regulatory thresholds, and strengthen sustainability credentials—while cutting disposal costs

What’s In It ?

Biorich compost is crafted from a carefully balanced mix of organic ingredients, including; grape waste from wineries, fruit waste from packhouses and agricultural by-products from primary industries

To build the perfect carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, we add bulking agents like bark, sawdust, and shredded green waste — helping the compost break down efficiently through aerobic decomposition.

What sets us apart? Wool.

Wool adds slow-release nitrogen, boosts microbial activity, and enhances moisture retention — making Biorich compost not just a soil conditioner, but a long-term soil solution.

It’s more than just organic matter — it’s a recipe for regeneration.

Our Composting Process

At BioRich, composting is a science-backed, carefully monitored process designed to produce high-quality, biologically active compost — every time.

Each day, compost is created using a balanced mix of carbon and nitrogen at a 30:1 ratio, with moisture content set at 50% to create the ideal environment for microbial activity using our carefully selected ingredients.

The material is initially deposited into forced aeration rows, where it undergoes active composting for a minimum of 30 days. During this phase, the compost is regularly watered and turned, while oxygen levels are carefully maintained between 5% and 20%. Temperatures are closely monitored to ensure pathogen destruction and optimal microbial conditions.

Following this high-activity stage, the compost is transferred to curing areas, where it continues to mature under stable conditions. At this stage, the compost is rigorously tested to BioGro New Zealand standards, including assessments for nutrients, heavy metals, herbicides, pests, and pathogens such as salmonella.

Once matured, the compost is screened to ensure a consistent texture and delivered at a uniform moisture content to meet the needs of various growing environments.

All compost is produced in full compliance with the BioGro New Zealand organic certification standards, ensuring environmental responsibility and product integrity from start to finish.
