| BioRich produces approximately 20,000 cubic metres of organically certified compost annually. This is produced on its two consented compost sites in Hawkes Bay. One is situated at Te Tua Station 20kms south west of Hastings. The other is on Waitangi Road, Awatoto, Napier. |
The compost is made from a mixture of animal manures, fish waste, paunch grass from abbatoirs, waste from food and petfood manufacturers, fruit waste from packhouses and grape waste from wineries. No human waste is included in the organic certified compost.
To the mix is added bulking material to create the optimum carbon to nitrogen ratio, and to help the compost to decompose aerobically. The bulking material takes the form of bark, sawdust and some shredded municipal green waste.
The combined mix is then put into aeration bins so that it receives ample oxygen and is maintained at the correct temperature. After 10 to 14 days in the bins the compost is placed in windrows and turned as required for the next 6 to months. From here it is screened and stored for sale.
BioRich can alter its mix, or add amendmnets, to meet particular needs of clients.
BioRich produces its compost according to the Standards of Bio-gro New Zealand.
Please note that BioRich Ltd endeavours to supply top quality products. However it is the customers responsibility to ensure the material purchased is fit for the purposes they intend to use it for.
